Technical Writer and Tester (Windows Specialist)
FireDaemon needs someone who can write clearly and test thoroughly. This is not a theory role. You will install, break, verify, and document our products on real Windows systems.
Minimum Requirements

Your own computer(s) and a Windows lab with various Windows VMs installed using the hypervisor of your choice. N.B. we can supply ISOs and licenses as required

Ability to install, configure, understand, and test all FireDaemon products
-
Ability to install, configuration a myriad of third-party software products and then configure those products to run under FireDaemon Pro control
-
Solid networking and Windows systems administration skills including operating system installation, setup and configuration of roles such as Active Directory
-
Strong technical writing ability targeted at systems administrator and engineers
-
A methodical approach to testing and accuracy
-
Be a self-starter and be able to work independently
-
Have the right to work in Australia and an ABN
-
Perfect written and spoken English.
Desirable Requirements

Jira, Confluence or other bug tracking and documentation systems
-
Xray, Zephyr or other testing tools
-
FinalBuilder, Continua or other CI/CD tools
-
Wix CMS or other technical writing platforms
-
Command Prompt or PowerShell scripting
-
Use of generative AI tools such as claude.ai
What You Will Do
-
Test FireDaemon products in your VM lab
-
Write clear, accurate documentation based on hands-on results (e.g. manuals, guides, and cookbooks)

Migrate our existing knowledge base from FreshDesk to Wix CMS consolidating, re-organising and re-writing as you go
-
Work with engineering to confirm technical details
-
Work with us to develop an AI assisted knowledge base that will eventually integrate into our software products.
Mandatory Application Criteria

Download and install FireDaemon Pro on a Windows machine or VM

Use it to configure any third-party application of your choice to run under FireDaemon Pro control

Observe what worked, what didn’t, and what surprised you.
When you apply, ensure you include in your cover email:

The exact Windows version you tested on

The third-party application you configured
-
One FireDaemon Pro feature you found genuinely useful and why
-
One thing that was confusing, unclear, or could be improved
-
A short paragraph written as if it were documentation for another sysadmin explaining what you did.

Applications that do not include all of the above will not be considered.

Applications that are clearly AI generated will not be considered either.
